This position performs engineering analysis and studies for implementing and operating on-going administration of the PSC’s regulatory responsibilities under Public Act (PA) 295, as amended by PA 342 of 2016 and PA 229 of 2023 (Act). This position is responsible for the effective implementation of all utility provider Energy Optimization (EO) plans. Review and oversight of these plans and their subsequent outcomes will focus on the legislatively required standards of the Energy Waste Reduction (EWR) programs and Efficient Electrification (EFEL) programs otherwise known as Energy Optimization (EO) plans. This position will have an active participation role in the Michigan Energy Measures Database (MEMD) annual review of new measures and measure updates. A senior level Public Utilities Engineer (PUE) performs a full range of professional-level assignments with responsibility for uncontested and controversial cases with major impact. A senior level PUE is required to exercise considerable independent judgement in the performance of his/her duties, especially regarding analyzing, and resolving complex cases before the Commission.

Public Utilities Engineer 9 No specific type or amount is required.
Public Utilities Engineer 10 One year of professional experience in public utilities engineering involving the analysis of utility rate structures, operations and safety standards and practices equivalent to a Public Utilities Engineer 9.
Public Utilities Engineer P11 Two years of professional experience in public utilities engineering involving the analysis of utility rate structures, operations and safety standards and practices equivalent to a Public Utilities Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Public Utilities Engineer 10.
Public Utilities Engineer 12 Three years of professional experience in public utilities engineering involving the analysis of utility rate structures, operations and safety standards and practices equivalent to a Public Utilities Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Public Utilities Engineer P11.
