Apprentice Lineman I
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs routine unskilled and semi-skilled work assisting Electric Line Workers in the performance of their work. Work is performed under immediate supervision.
TYPICAL TASKS:
Supplies line workers with materials and tools while they are involved in line work activities. Checks location of existing utility lines to ensure safe installation. Prepares pad sites, conduit, and related materials for installation. Sets pad-mounted equipment, installs underground cable, and makes terminations. Digs holes and trenches for the installation of poles and underground lines. Prepares transformers, cut outs, cross arms and street lights for use in overhead line work. Stock trucks with required material, supplies and tools. Cleans and repairs tools regularly. May be required to be on standby for trouble calls outside of normal working hours. Must be available to respond immediately following storm events and other emergencies impacting the electric system. May be required to work nights and weekend shifts. Employee is expected to advance through task system to become classified as Lineman. Ability to lift or displace up to 100 pounds. Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of electric line construction and maintenance and the job hazards. Ability and willingness to learn to set poles, string wire and do related work. Ability to perform manual labor. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to observe safety rules and regulations. Strength to perform manual work and stamina to withstand working under adverse weather conditions. May be required to work in confined spaces. Ability to learn to climb poles. Ability to work well with others. Ability to deal tactfully with the public.
Apprentice Lineman II
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs routine skilled work in the construction and maintenance of the electric utility distribution system. Work is performed under immediate supervision. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL TASKS:
Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair work on low and high voltage lines. Checks location of existing utility lines to ensure safe installation. Prepares pad sites, conduit, and related materials for installation. Sets pad-mounted equipment, installs underground cable, and makes terminations. Lineman
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs advanced and skilled electrical work in the maintenance, repair and construction of overhead and underground transmission and distribution (T & D) lines and equipment. Frequently works with energized high voltage lines, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions. Work is performed under immediate supervision. Work is subject to inspection while in progress or upon completion for quality and operating results.
TYPICAL TASKS:
Performs the installation, maintenance and repair work on low and high voltage lines. Installs poles, transformers and other auxiliary equipment. Tests voltage loads on transformers. Makes adjustments to transformers for the required voltage. Installs transformers and places into operation. Locates system faults and makes repairs in primary and secondary lines. Replaces broken or faulty equipment on poles and in underground equipment. Performs work on energized lines using hot sticks or rubber gloves. Stock trucks with required material, supplies and tools. Cleans and repairs tools regularly. Operates line truck and associated equipment. Performs related work as required. May be required to be on standby for trouble calls outside of normal working hours. Must be available to respond immediately following storm events and other emergencies impacting the electric system. May be required to work nights and weekend shifts. All other duties as assigned. Ability to lift or displace up to 100 pounds.

Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in electric line work. Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and the proper safety precautions. Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electric distribution systems. Knowledge of first aid, including artificial respiration. Ability and willingness to climb poles and to work among high-tension wires, exercising proper safety precautions. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions quickly and accurately. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees. Ability to meet physical requirements necessary for climbing poles and performing manual tasks in line work. Lineman First Class
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:

Frequently works with energized high voltage lines, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions. Work is normally performed under the direction of a Line Crew Supervisor. Work is subject to inspection while in progress or upon completion for quality and operating results.

Performs the installation, maintenance and repair work on low and high voltage lines. Installs poles, transformers and other auxiliary equipment. Tests voltage loads on transformers. Makes adjustments to transformers for the required voltage. Installs transformers and places into operation. Locates system faults and makes repairs in primary and secondary lines. Replaces broken or faulty equipment on poles and in underground equipment. Performs work on energized lines using hot sticks or rubber gloves. Inspects electric conduit systems installed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with KUA standards and specifications. Stock trucks with required material, supplies and tools. Cleans and repairs tools regularly. Operates line truck and associated equipment. Performs related work as required. May be required to be on standby for trouble calls outside of normal working hours. Must be available to respond immediately following storm events and other emergencies impacting the electric system. May be required to work nights and weekend shifts. All other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED required and some experience in electric line construction and maintenance.

Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license issued by the State of Florida. CDL, Type “A” license with Tanker endorsement required or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Preference may be given to individuals who reside within the KUA service area.
Lineman
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or GED required and experience as a Lineman or a minimum of four years of experience as an Apprentice Lineman.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver’s license issued by the State of Florida. CDL, Type “A” license with Tanker endorsement required or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Preference may be given to individuals who reside within the KUA service area.
Lineman First Class
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required and experience as a Lineman. Successful completion of a minimum of a four year apprenticeship program is required. Must have held the position of Lineman First Class and/or possess a Journeyman Lineman certification from an accredited apprenticeship program.
