The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but is not limited to, preparing limited financial analyses on pending applications of the regulated entities; planning, organizing, and performing limited economic analyses of operations, methods, and costs of financing, rates of return, and other financial and economic information regarding matters under consideration by the Commission; and rendering technical assistance and advice, and evaluation of mathematical and statistical aspects of matters under consideration by the Commission.

A. Knowledge This position requires knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of the Commission, its general orders, rules, tariffs and decisions and orders; applicable Hawaii Revised Statutes; the legislative process; and the basic principles, concepts, and terminology of economics; research and statistical methods, techniques and procedures; economic resource materials and sources.
B. Skills/ Abilities Demonstrated ability to gather, compile, analyze and interpret economic data; prepare research and statistical reports and summaries; make accurate mathematical computations, analyze written and statistical data; speak and write effectively; direct the work of clerical assistants; deal effectively with the public; efficiently carry out technical projects within specified timetables; make sound policy recommendations; maintain confidentiality in the use of confidential information; and to maintain regular attendance.
C. Education This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 24 semester hours in economics or finance.
D. Experience This position requires one (1) year of relevant professional work experience conducting economic research studies and analyses of major economic areas/issues which demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of economic principles and theories, and the implications of economic information and trends. A master's degree in economics or finance may be substituted for all of the required work experience.
